Men place second, women fourth in Sewanee Relay meet

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's swimming and diving teams opened the 2025–26 campaign on Saturday inside the Fowler Natatorium. The men's team placed second overall, while the women finished fourth out of six teams.

On the men's side, the 200 medley relay team of Andrew Olsen, Naeem Mangum, Josh Kim, and Carter Nabors led the Tigers with a second-place finish, clocking a time of 1:35.57. Sewanee also collected third- and fourth-place finishes in the 200 backstroke relay. The quartet of Tyler Foster, Olsen, Jackson Pillow, and Jon Brettschneider finished third with a 1:41.66, while Mangum, Nabors, Connor Young, and Mason Horner placed fourth in 1:55.39.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Olsen, Nabors, Henry Lindeman III, and Kim took third with a time of 1:29.20. The men added two more fourth-place finishes in the 200 breaststroke relay and the 1500 freestyle relay. Mangum, Nabors, Young, and Horner made up the 200 breaststroke relay team, swimming a 1:55.39, while Ryder Griffin, Brettschneider, and Lindeman combined for a 15:19.41 in the 1500 freestyle relay.

On the women's side, Sewanee was led by the 200 freestyle relay team of Samantha Denman, Eleanor Bishop, Audrey Francell, and Ada Digby, who recorded a time of 1:44.02, good for second. The 1500 freestyle relay team of Sarah Beth Roady, Ella Deitch, and Bishop placed third with a 17:00.04. The Tigers added three fourth-place finishes in the 200 medley relay, 200 breaststroke relay, and 500 crescendo relay. Caroline Johnston, Bishop, Francell, and Digby posted a 1:52.62 in the medley relay; Bishop, Deitch, Grace Gearhart, and Johnston recorded a 2:17.73 in the breaststroke relay; and Digby, Francell, Bishop, and Roady swam a 4:58.43 in the crescendo relay.

To wrap up the day, the Tigers claimed first place in the 200 mixed medley relay, as Olsen, Mangum, Francell, and Digby clocked a 1:43.01 to close out the meet with a victory.

Sewanee returns to the pool on October 25, hosting Emory University for a dual meet inside Fowler Natatorium.
