SEWANEE, Tenn. – Junior Kylene Monghan put the Tigers on the board just five minutes into the game and Monaghan connected with Brianna Fee for the second goal of the game in Sewanee's 2-0 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor in women's soccer action on Friday afternoon in the Tiger's first home opener.

Monaghan put the Tigers (2-0-1) ahead just five minutes into the match with a penalty kick after senior Samantha Ferry drew a foul in the top of the box. Monaghan then linked up with Fee 17 minutes later, threading a pass through two defenders that Fee converted with a left-footed strike to the bottom corner past the goalie.

Sewanee controlled the first half with a 6-4 shot advantage, against a team receiving votes in the preseason poll, while both teams generated more opportunities after the break. The Tigers registered 12 second-half shots to the Cru's 11, but neither side could break through. Kate Thomson and Kristina Wilkerson each contributed to the offensive pressure, with Thomson taking two shots on goal and Wilkerson one, while both also played key roles in the defensive backline. Goalkeeper Leah Atkins remained solid, recording seven saves and securing her third shutout of the season.

Sewanee will return to play on Sunday at 2:30 as they host Transylvania following two neutral site games played on Saturday and Sunday at Puett Field.
