SEWANEE, Tenn. – Despite a 20-5 advantage in shots, Sewanee dropped a 1-0 decision to Belhaven University in women's soccer action Saturday in Birmingham, Ala.
The Tigers (3-1-3) outshot the Blazers but were unable to find the back of the net.
Brianna Fee returned to the lineup for Sewanee after an injury sidelined the senior.
Micah Benson scored the only goal of the match in the 40
th minute on an assist from Emma Antonoplos for Belhaven. Sewanee held a 9-3 edge in shots in the first half and 11-2 in the second half, forcing 11 saves by Blazers (5-2-0) goalkeeper Julianne Wilson.
Leah Atkins recorded two saves for the Tigers.
Sewanee hosts Piedmont University on Monday at 5 p.m. and begins conference play next Saturday at home against Berry College at 4 p.m. at Puett Field.
