Tiger men blanked at Johns Hopkins

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Jack Mendrysa posted a goal and an assist, both in the second half, for 24th-ranked Johns Hopkins in a 2-0 victory over Sewanee in men's soccer action Sunday in Baltimore, Md.

The Blue Jays (2-0-0) outshot the Tigers, 17-3, in the match, but the match was tied at the half despite an 8-0 edge in shots for the home team. Mendrysa assisted on Rishi Pathak for the first goal in the 55th minute and it remained that way until the final five minutes when Mandrysa found the back of the net on assists from Jack Ordonez and Will Sangpachatanaruk.

Sewanee goalkeeper Nathan Vanhoeve collected four saves in the loss.

The Tigers open the home schedule Friday against third-ranked Washington and Lee at 7:30 p.m. at Puett Field.
