Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's lacrosse falls at Centre

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Devon Root recorded three points for the Tigers, but Sewanee was unable to find the back of the net as they fell to Centre in Danville, Ky. in men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers had a slow start as the Colonels recorded the first four goals of the game and held Sewanee scoreless until 49 seconds left in the first period, as Sage Cookerly connected with Griffin Peterson

The Colonels registered the first goal of the second period, but a save from Greg Ix gave the Tigers the ball and Niko Maheras found the back of the net. Centre tacked on two more before Sewanee answered with four of their own to end the second period.

Devon Root capitalized on a man-up opportunity with an assist from Maheras. A faceoff win from Drew Perun gave Sewanee the ball and Root tallied another goal. A ground ball from Charles Moran gave the Tigers the ball with 4:20 to play and Manoli Loupassi made it a two-goal game.

With 28 seconds left, Peterson posted his second goal of the game to get within one of the Colonels.

The third period was the turning point for the Tigers as the Colonels recorded six unanswered goals and held Sewanee to only four shots.

Centre tacked on another goal to open the final period. A resulting draw-control win from Perun gave Sewanee the ball and Moran fired his first goal of the game with an assist from Root. Centre countered with two goals of their own before Hawkins Schnabel tallied the Tigers' last goal of the game with an assist from Hank Walsh

Centre registered the last three goals of the game for a 19-8 win over Sewanee.
