th-ranked Tigers 4-3 win over Westmont College in men's tennis action Saturday in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Sewanee (4-2) plays again Sunday against 35
th-ranked Vassar College in Newport Beach, Calif.
The Tigers started strong, winning all three doubles outings, including a 6-3 triumph at No. 3 by Weston and Ramsey against Jarett Navarat and Goor Adiv.
Peyton Erck and
Andre-Remi Jakobi claimed a 7-5 decision at No. 2 versus Owen Vander Ark and Logan Thompson before
Jordan Theron and
Quinn Wicklund won 7-2 in a tiebreaker at No. 1 over Austin Stone and Ethan Ha.
Stone and Thompson got the Warriors (3-6) into the match with three-set victories at the top two spots in singles, with Stone edging Theron at No. 1, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, and Thompson defeating Wicklund, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5.
Weston and Hyden won their matches in straight sets for the Tigers – Weston posted a 6-2, 6-4, decision against Adiv at No. 4 and Hyden recorded a 7-6, 6-0, win at No. 5 versus Vander Ark. Preston Hastings outlasted
George Thomas Alexander at No. 6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-4, setting up the final match at No. 3.
Ramsey and Ha split set before Ramsey claimed a 7-3 decision in the third-set tiebreaker.
