Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Tigers outlast DeSales, 7-6

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Elizabeth Muller tallied two goals and an assist as the Tigers prevailed against DeSales in women's lacrosse action on Wednesday night at Puett Field, as Sewanee moves to 5-0 on the season. 

No one got on the board until Sally Herrington tallied the game's first goal off an assist from Muller with 3:10 on the clock in the first period. 

The Tigers tallied two additional quick goals after, both unassisted from Claire Saverino, and a draw-control win from Herrington led to another goal from Erika Bolcar for a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs got on the board with 22 seconds on the clock. 

DeSales came out fast in the second period and tallied another goal on a free possession attempt. 

Caroline Harlick found the rebound off a shot and tallied the Tigers' first goal of the period. DeSales capitalized on a man-up opportunity to get back within one. 

An immediate draw-control win from Claire Dillard led to another goal from Herrington with an assist from Harlick. The Bulldogs got back within one as they tallied the last goal of the half. Sewanee went into halftime leading, 5-4. 

Both teams only scored two goals in the second half, one each period per team. Muller tallied the Tiger's last two goals to secure the win under the lights. 

A free-possession goal from Muller tallied the first goal of the second half and a two-goal lead for Sewanee. DeSales, once again connected with just 23 seconds on the clock to get back within one off a free possession goal. 

In the third period, the Bulldogs tallied the game at six a piece with just under 10 minutes to play in the game. 

However, Sewanee responded as a ground ball by Ella Townsend led to another goal from Muller, with an assist from Marlin Price, for the game-winning goal. 

DeSales tried for another last-second goal, with a shot at 1 second in the game, but it went wide for a Sewanee win. 

Herrington and Muller both tallied two goals, while Bolcar, Saverino, and Harlick tallied one apiece. Defensively, Price led the Tigers with six draw control wins, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Dillard added three ground balls, two caused turnovers, and one draw control win. In goal for the Tigers, Lilly Jordan registered six saves in their win.

Sewanee continues their six-game homestand as they face John Carroll University, tomorrow March 7 at 4 p.m. before opening up conference play against Oglethorpe on Saturday at 2 p.m.
