SEWANEE, Tenn. – Senior
Drew Noblet finished third in the javelin while junior Jacelyn Covaney placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles and sophomore
Cydney Wright was seventh in the shot put for Sewanee track and field over the weekend at the UAB Spring Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.
Noblet posted a mark of 172-feet, 5-inches on Friday in the javelin, good enough for third place overall. The Waxhaw, N.C., native owns the second-best mark in the conference and third best in Division III South Region.
Wright placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 36-3.25 while junior
Kamilla Haidaienko was ninth (33-5.25) and sophomore
Emma Howlett posted a mark of 32-5.5. Wright, Howlett and Haidaienko collected marks of 96-10, 96-8 and 90-4, respectively, in the discus and Howlett and Haidaienko registered marks of 109-1 and 85-7 in the hammer throw.
Junior
Stephen Goetze finished eighth in the javelin with a mark of 135-1 while sophomore
Gavin Potter posted a mark of 111-8.
In the discus freshman
Stevie Mack recorded a mark of 104-2 and sophomore
Brayden Owens collected a mark of 101-9 while sophomore
Lukus White tossed the shot put 36-11.5 and Potter's was 33-0.5.
In the running events, Covaney finished fifth in the intermediate hurdles in 1:11.62 while finishing in 20.03 in the 100-meter hurdles. Sophomore
Sam Ude posted a time of 2:31.92 in the 800-meters while senior
Maya Quick and sophomore
Kimberly Mackrella recorded times of 30.98 and 31.83, respectively, in the 200-meters.
The women's 4x400-meter relay of Covaney, Ude, junior
Lou Bullock and Quick placed second with a time of 4:35.66.
For the men, sophomore
Lane Gamble, freshman
Jimmy Holmes and junior
Jenkins Darbney posted times of 52.41, 53.54 and 58.78, respectively, in the 400-meters. Sophomore
Brandon Christ collected a time of 2:07.28 in the 800 while Holmes and Darbney recorded times of 23.77 and 25.70 in the 200-meters.
The men's 4x400-meter relay of Gamble, Christ, Holmes and Darbney finished fourth in 3:42.92.
Sewanee's track and field teams will participate April 12-13 in the Maryville Scots Invitational in Maryville, Tenn.
