Sewanee comes in second at Mountainside Stride

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Lane Gamble won the 400-meter as Sewanee's women's and men's track and field teams came in second at the Mountainside Stride Meet on Friday night in Chattanooga, Tenn. 

On the men's side, Gamble captured the 400 meters title with a time of 53.12, while Maxwell Finn added a third-place finish in 54.09.

In the 800 meters, Brandon Christ placed second in 2:06.09, with Christian Myers finishing fourth. Austin Colvin added an eighth-place finish in the 1500 meters.

The meet concluded in emphatic fashion, as the 4x400 relay team of Finn, Gamble, Jacob Heilpern, and Christ surged to a first-place finish in 3:36.53. Sewanee also placed second in the 4x100 relay.

In the field events, Sam Leonard tied the Sewanee school record in the high jump, clearing 2.00 meters to finish second. Darryl Williams added a third-place finish in the event.

Stephen Goetze delivered a standout performance in the discus, recording a personal-best throw of over three meters beyond his previous mark to place second.

In the throws, Gavin Potter finished second in the shot put, with Joshua Locklear, Goetze, and Aryan Patel also scoring for the Tigers.

On the women's side, Grace Potter led the way with a victory in the high jump, clearing 1.40 meters to tie for 10th all-time in program history. Hannah Cleveland added a win in the shot put to highlight the Tigers' efforts in the field.

On the track, Abigail Armstrong placed second in the 800 meters, while Mary Helen Munger added a sixth-place finish. Elizabeth Cook finished third in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:22.07, with Samantha Ude and Allison Haworth also scoring.

In the sprints, Erin Graffeo and Grace Potter finished third and fourth in the 200 meters, while Arianna Shirak added a third-place finish in the 400 meters.

Sewanee also posted strong relay results, finishing second in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays on the women's side.

Overall, the Tigers showcased depth and momentum across both squads, highlighted by key individual milestones and a commanding relay victory to close the meet.
