Sewanee tallied two goals to start the second period. Maheras scored the first of the period Manoli Loupassi connected with Phelps Thomas for the second. Thomas's goal came off a caused turnover from Jake Cohen

Piedmont connected their second goal from the faceoff win, but Sewanee notched a three-goal run. Hank Walsh started the streak off a caused turnover by Tomas and a ground ball from Loupassi. Maheras found the back of the net again for the second, and a faceoff win by Drew Perun granted Sewanee possession again as Loupassi capitalized.

Piedmont, however, had an answer as they posted a three-goal run of their own, going into halftime only down by one.

The Lions registered the first goal of the second half, tying the score at six.

However, Sewanee capitalized on an extra man opportunity as Maheras tallied another goal with an assist from Zach Crain just 26 seconds later.

A caused turnover by Piedmont tied the score at 7 as Isaac Harrington found his way past Sewanee goalie, Greg Ix. Piedmont notched another of a Sewanee turnover to take the lead, 8-7.

Another faceoff win from Perun led to a goal from Maheras to tie the game at 8 a piece. Maheras then connected again on a man-up opportunity for the Tigers to put them back in the lead, but Piedmont tied the game at nine with a goal from Brady McGuire with 1:54 left in the period.

Piedmont started the fourth period, tallying three unanswered goals to build their lead. However, the Tigers responded with three of their own from Charles Moran, Corbet Darden, and Loupassi. Loupassi kept the Tigers in the game as he connected on a last-second goal with 31 seconds on the clock to send the game into overtime.
