Men's hoops defeat Oglethorpe on the road, 89-68

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Tre Corrigan posted a career-high 24 points, recording six threes, and Russ Marr tallied 20 points as the Tigers picked up a win in men's basketball action on Friday night in Atlanta, Ga., 89-68. 

Sewanee came out on fire against Oglethorpe and never looked back, as they collected a 16-point lead, up 25-9 in the first 8.75 minutes of the game. Russ Marr tallied 11 of Sewanee's points off two threes, a layup, and three from the charity stripe. Tre Corrigan and Reid Carrier also knotted one three a piece. 

Building upon their lead, Sewanee went into half-time up 18, off of a layup from Luka Avaliani and a three from Carrier to end the half. 

Marr, Corrigan, and Carrier tallied two threes a piece in the first, as the Tigers collected seven from behind the arc in the first half. Sewanee collected 30 rebounds in the first with eight points off the bench and five blocks. 

The Petrels opened the second half with a 20-to-12 run, cutting the Tigers' lead to 10, but a three from Corrigan rejuvenated Sewanee and they recorded a 14-to-3 run of their own, fueled by three threes from Corrigan, a three from Carrier, and two from Avaliani. 

Avaliani, Corrigan, and Marr ended in double-digits for the Tigers, as they collected 58 of the Tigers' points. Corrigan led the Tigers in assists with five and Fletcher Bigham collected seven boards.  

Sewanee travels to play Berry on Sunday in Rome, Ga. before ending their regular season at Centre next Wednesday, February 14.
