Henry Hyden and
George Thomas Alexander each picked up singles wins in a 4-1 victory over UT Southern in men's tennis action late Saturday evening at the Charlotte Guerry Indoor Courts.
Quinn Wicklund and Weston posted a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles against Martin Cabrera and Shizuya Kubo.
Peyton Erck and
Andre-Remi Jakobi collected a 6-3 victory at No. 2 versus Nickolas Rosa and Juan Camilo Moreno and
Liam Selvido and Hyden registered the same score in a triumph over Flipe Dias and Rage Matuck at No. 3.
Tristan Kelly recorded the Firehawks only point in the match with a 6-4, 5-7, 10-3, victory at No. 5 singles against Jakobi, but Weston defeated Kubo, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 3 and Hyden collected a 6-2, 6-1, win at No. 4 versus Moreno. Alexander tallied a 6-4, 6-2, decision against Matuck at No. 6.
Sewanee hosts Wallace State this coming Saturday at 9:30 a.m. before opening play in the ITA National Indoor Championships in Lexington, Ky., on Feb. 23-25.
