Tigers fall to Southwestern on Homecoming

Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. – Kason Holder opened the game with an interception on the first play, but Southwestern rallied with 35 unanswered points to secure a 35-10 victory over Sewanee on Homecoming Saturday.

The Tigers struggled offensively, throwing interceptions on back-to-back possessions, both of which Southwestern capitalized on.

Dyer Barnes led the receiving corps with four catches for 97 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Keegan Glaze tallied 12 tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss, Micah Millraney added 10 tackles, and Rylan Holder recorded nine tackles along with a quarterback hurry. Kaleb Seay contributed eight tackles.

After Holder's interception gave the Tigers the ball at the Southwestern 36, Sewanee opened the scoring with a 38-yard field goal by Will Simpson for a 3-0 lead. The Pirates responded with a field goal to tie it at 3-3 and then scored 32 straight points.
Following a Southwestern touchdown, Barnes provided a spark with a 48-yard kickoff return, though Sewanee was unable to capitalize on the field position.

Southwestern's two scores off Sewanee interceptions widened the lead to 25-3. Later, Barnes connected with Jayden Bragg for a 74-yard touchdown reception, marking the Tigers' first touchdown with five minutes remaining.

Jacorin Thomas completed 11 of 31 passes, while Bragg went 3-for-5 for 82 yards.

Sewanee hosts Hendrix College next Saturday at 1 p.m. in the final home game of the season.
