Isaac Rasheed scored in the first minute of the second half for Sewanee but Oglethorpe University found the back of the net twice in each half in a 4-1 victory over the Tigers in men's soccer action Saturday in Atlanta, Ga.
Sewanee (1-5-4, 0-1-1 SAA) fell behind 2-0 at the half but Rasheed's score on an assist from
Charlie Williams pulled the Tigers within a goal. Oglethorpe answered with goals in the 64
th and 81
st minute and played the final 14 minutes down a man after a red card on Daniel Amah.
Liam Dueve put the Petrels (5-1-4, 2-0-0) on the board in the 16
th minute on an assist from Nicolas Sciarra and Oglethorpe added a second goal in the first half in the 37
th minute. Adrian Levy found the back of the net on an assist from Casey Torres and the home team led 2-0 at intermission, outshooting the Tigers, 3-1.
Rasheed pulled Sewanee within a goal and
Noah Bjorkman's 1-v-1 was saved in the 56
th minute, a potential equalizer for the Tigers. Amah gave the Petrels a 3-1 advantage with a goal in the 64
th minute, assisted by Aaron Ibe, but Amah earned a red card at 76:09.
Grayson White's free kick after the ejection sailed just over the crossbar. Steele Norton tallied the final score for Oglethorpe in the 81
st minute on an assist from JP Devine.
Sewanee travels to LaGrange College for a 2:30 p.m. ET match before returning home next weekend, facing Millsaps College on Friday at Puett Field.
