Tigers fall in four at Millsaps

Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. – Emma Meyer, Savannah Gann, and Suna Merkler each recorded double-doubles, but the Sewanee Tigers fell in four sets to Millspas in Sunday's volleyball match.

Meyer tallied 30 assists and 12 digs, along with a kill and a block. Gann recorded 10 kills, 10 digs, three blocks, and an ace, while Merkler, earning her first collegiate double-double, contributed 11 kills, 13 digs, two aces, and two blocks. Sophia Caruso led the Tigers defensively with 27 digs, three assists, and an ace, while Mollie White posted her career-best seven blocks.

The Tigers captured the opening set after a well-timed timeout at 16-19 helped them regain momentum. Sewanee responded with three kills, two aces, and capitalized on Millsaps errors to close the set, 25-21.

In the second set, errors hindered the Tigers, who posted a negative hitting percentage and two service errors. Millsaps capitalized, hitting .250 with 12 kills, four blocks, and an ace, winning the set 25-14.

The third set saw Sewanee regain focus, with Caruso opening with an ace. After an early 8-1 run by Millsaps, the Tigers clawed back within four. Following a timeout at 16-22, Sewanee rallied with kills from Merkler and Gann and a block by Merkler and Mollie White, but Millsaps held on to win the set 25-22.

The fourth set proved challenging as Sewanee again recorded a negative hitting percentage. Millsaps jumped ahead with a six-point run, keeping control throughout. Sewanee's 5-1 push in the middle of the set brought them within two points, but the Majors regained control and closed out the match 25-18.

The Tigers will return home to host Berry and Oglethorpe in their final regular-season conference matches on Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2.
