SEWANEE, Tenn. –
Kylene Monaghan netted the equalizer early in the second half and
Brianna Fee posted the game-winner in the final five minutes in Sewanee's 2-1 victory over Centre College in women's soccer action Saturday at Puett Field.
The Tigers (11-1-4, 6-0-0) won their third straight regular season SAA championship with results from last weekend's matches but solidified their hold on the No. 1 seed with the win against the Colonels. Sewanee will host the conference championship semifinals and finals on November 8 and 10.
Centre (10-4-2, 3-2-1) held a 1-0 lead for most of the first half after a goal in the fifth minute by Mary Martin Hampton. Colonels goalkeeper Grace Dutcher turned away numerous chances by the Tigers in the opening period, making four saves.
Sewanee found the back of the net in the 57
th minute, with Monaghan collecting her fourth goal of the year with a shot to the upper right corner of the net. The Tigers kept pressing, with Dutcher again making a couple of outstanding saves in 1-v-1 opportunities, but Fee put the home team ahead for good in the 86
th minute.

Samantha Ferry assisted on the game-winner by Fee, her ninth goal of the year.
Dutcher finished with five saves against 14 total shots by the Tigers while Sewanee's
Leah Atkins registered three saves, all in the first half. The Tigers outshot Centre, 8-4, in the second half.
As the No. 1 seed, Sewanee earns a bye next weekend and will play in the semifinals at home on Friday, Nov. 8.
