Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. –
Caroline Pulliam's one-timer at the back post in the 82
nd minute provided the only goal of the match in Sewanee's 1-0 win against Centre College in the semifinals of the SAA Women's Soccer Championships here Friday night at Puett Field.
The Tigers (12-1-4) advance to Sunday's championship match for the fourth consecutive season. They will play the winner of Friday's late match between Berry College and Rhodes College.
Sewanee controlled the run of play for much of the 90 minutes, but the Tigers were unable to break through until the final minutes. The home team outshot the Colonels, 4-1, in the first half and 11-5 overall, but none was more important than Pulliam's right-footed attempt.
Ashlyn Richards long ball from the right sailed over everyone's head and hit a streaking Pulliam near the back post. The senior midfielder buried the chance for her second goal of the season and the team's second victory over Centre (11-5-2) in the last two weeks, both of them with goals in the last eight minutes.
Centre goalkeeper Grace Dutcher made five saves for the Colonels, three in the first half, while Sewanee's
Leah Atkins collected one save.
