Early goal sinks Tigers on the road

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Despite outshooting Transylvania 20-8, an early goal from the Pioneers proved decisive as Sewanee fell 1-0 in Monday night's field hockey match in Lexington, Ky.

The Tigers dominated offensively, recording 13 shots on target and earning 12 penalty corners, while holding the Pioneers to just six shots on goal and two corners.

Transylvania struck early, netting the only goal of the game within the first five minutes of play.

Catherine Crane led Sewanee with six shots, five on goal, while Molly Haskell added four shots on target. However, Transylvania goalkeeper Libby Bringard secured the shutout with 12 saves.

Sewanee will host their last home regular season competition this Saturday at 10:30 a.m., when they host Centre College at Puett Field.
