SEWANEE, Tenn. –
Lacey Carder and
Caroline Pulliam both scored in the first 10 minutes of the match and
Kate Thomson added a goal in the second half in Sewanee's 3-0 victory over Hendrix College in women's soccer action Sunday in Conway, Ark.
The Tigers (10-1-4, 5-0-0 SAA) upped their unbeaten streak to eight matches with the win and combined with Sunday's draw between Rhodes College and Centre College, Sewanee claimed its third consecutive regular season SAA championship. The Tigers host Centre next Saturday at 1 p.m. in the final regular season match of the year.
Carder poked in a ball at the back post after a corner kick by
Ashlyn Richards bounced off the hands of Hendrix goalkeeper Bron Adams less than two minutes in the match.
In the eighth minute Carder slid a pass toward the top of the six-yard box to
Kylene Monaghan and her shot was stopped by Adams.
Samantha Ferry was there for the rebound but her attempt was blocked, but the ball bounced off a Hendrix defender near the goal and Pulliam drove toward the goal and finished for a 2-0 Sewanee advantage.

Susie Whitsett drew a foul near the sideline down the leftside. Richards delivered a cross much like a corner and Thomson headed in the goal at the far post, extending the Tigers lead to 3-0.
The Tigers dominated the run of play in both halves, outshooting the Warriors, 25-1, including 17-0 in the first half. Adams made six saves in the first period for the Warriors (5-3-5, 1-2-2) and Kennedy Lewis collected one save in the second half for the home team.
