Field Hockey falls to No.38 UMW

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee field hockey took on No. 38-ranked Mary Washington on Sunday, falling 3-0 at Puett Field.

The Eagles opened scoring just over six minutes into the game, taking a 1-0 lead that held until halftime. They added two more goals in the second half, one early in the third quarter and another off a penalty corner in the fourth.

Molly Haskell led the Tigers' offense with the team's only shot on goal. Taylor Klesel was active in the cage, making three saves, while Claire Damare added one.

Mary Washington dominated offensively, outshooting Sewanee 12-4 and winning nine penalty corners to the Tigers' five. Sewanee saw increased pressure in the second half but couldn't break through the Eagles' defense.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 26, when they host Centre at 10:30 a.m. for their final regular-season home game before traveling to Rhodes on Nov. 3 for their conference finale.
