Noah Bjorkman netted goals in both halves and
Grayson White added a goal and one assist in Sewanee's 4-0 victory over Millsaps College in men's soccer action here Friday at Puett Field.
The Tigers (3-5-4, 1-1-1 SAA) scored twice in each period and thoroughly dominated the run of play from start-to-finish, outshooting the Majors, 24-3, overall, including 15-2 in the second half.
White registered the first goal on a great long ball from
Tyler Cozzie, with White collecting at the back post and his shot going off the hands of Millsaps goalkeeper Michael Hamauei and into the back of the net in the 12
th minute.
Cozzie nearly scored in the 16
th minute, beating a defender and shooting far post but Hamauei made a great save. Bjorkman netted his first goal of the match in the 20
th minute, beating a host of defenders over a 30-yard stretch.
Will Hawgood's shot was saved but Bjorkman was there for the rebound and a 2-0 advantage.
In the second half
Isaac Rasheed's hard drive to the top of the box was chested down by White and Bjorkman fired past Hamauei into the right side of the net in the 64
th minute.
Bjorkman drew a foul in the 75
th minute after another set of touches evading defenders, earning a penalty, but
Christopher Rives airmailed the attempt.
Alpha Bah netted the final goal for the Tigers in the 80
th minute, with
Wells Durham heading a ball forward that bounced past a Millsaps defender. Bah took two touches and shot left-footed past a hard-charging Hamauei for a 4-0 advantage.
Hamauei recorded 10 saves for the Majors (2-7-2, 0-3-0) while
Sam Harwell tallied two saves in 74 minutes in net for the Tigers.
Sewanee travels to Rhodes College next Friday and Hendrix College next Sunday, continuing conference action.
