Track and Field hosts Tiger Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The University of the South's track and field team hosted and competed in their first indoor meet of the season on Saturday as they came in 11th of 18 teams with 32 points. 

The Tigers had 23 top-25 individual placements throughout the meet. The Tigers had two individuals come in second in their events. On the men's side, Sam Leonard tied for second in the high jump clearing 1.80, his personal best. Sam Ude, on the women's side, took home second in the 3,000m with a time of 11:58.27. 

Other Sewanee Finishes: 
  • The women's team placed fourth and seventh in the 4 x 400, Jocelyn Covaney, Louise Highfield, Kylene Monaghan, and Wrenna Morris took home fourth finishing in 4:39.48. Kimberly Mackerella, Maya Quick, Lou Bullock, and Page Wells finished seventh (5:11.12). 
  • James Holmes, Sam Leonard, Gavin Stallings, and Lane Gamble competed in the 4 x 400 taking home fourth as they clocked 3:44.14. 
  • Lane Gamble also placed seventh as he ran the 400 in 55.49 seconds. Jenkins Darbney also placed 18th as he ran a 1:06.12. 
  • Page Wells finished seventh in the 800, just three seconds off her career-best, with a 2:43.27. Josie Willis and Kelly Baumgart also competed in the 800, recording times of 3:13.16 for 21st, and 3:18.15 for 23rd, respectively. On the men's side, Brandon Christ ran a 2:17.37, good for 21st place. 
  • Kimberly Mackerella finished 13th in the 400 with a time of 1:15.89. 
  • Wrenna Morris placed eighth in the pole vault for the women, clearing 2.75m. She also competed in the 55m, finishing in 8.77. 
  • Maya Quick and Jocelyn Covaney competed in the 55m running a 7.88 and 8.49 respectively. On the men's side, James Holmes, Sam Leonard, and Jenkins Darbney also ran the 55m, finishing with times of 7.03, 7.183, and 7.42, respectively. 
  • Kylene Monaghan and Gavin Stallings both placed top 20 in the 200m, on the women's side, Monaghan ran a 29.99, good for 14th place, and on the men's side, Stallings placed 17th with a time of 25.74.
  • Emma Howlett placed 14th and 15th respectively in the weight throw and the shot put. In the weight throw, Howlett threw 11.26m and in the shot put, she threw 9.60m. Kamilla Haidaienko also competed in both field events, throwing for 8.97m, good for 23rd, and 9.49m in the shot put for 15th place.
  • Lukus White, Brayden Owens, and Stevie Mack competed in both the weight throw and shot put. In the weight throw, White finished 22nd (11.09m), Owens placed 25th (9.59), and Mack came in 26th (9.54). All three also competed in the shot put along with Gavin Potter. White threw 10.77m, Mack with 9.81m, Potter 9.81, and Owens threw for 9.17m.
