SEWANEE, Tenn. –
Brianna Fee and
Olivia Fee both scored in the first half and
Maggie O'Hare converted a penalty kick in the opening period as well in Sewanee's 3-0 victory over Oglethorpe in women's soccer action here Friday evening at Puett Field.
The Tigers (4-1-3, 2-0-0 SAA) held possession for nearly the entire match and wasted little time getting on the board, with
Brianna Fee finding the back of the net in the third minute of the match and O'Hare's PK in the 13
th minute.
Olivia Fee's goal came with just seconds remaining in the half.
Sewanee was unable to add to the goal total in the second period but peppered the net the full 90 minutes, outshooting the Petrels, 20-1. Oglethorpe (3-3-2, 0-2-0) goalkeeper Haley Lowell made four saves for the visitors.
The Tigers struck quickly, with
Brianna Fee finding the back of the net less than three minutes into the match on a cross from
Caroline Pulliam. Fee squared the cross from inside the penalty spot to the top right corner of the net for the 1-0 edge.
Pulliam helped Sewanee take a 2-0 advantage, drawing a foul in the box after a nice run down the leftside. O'Hare converted the penalty kick in the 13
th minute for the home team.
The Tigers kept pressing and outshot the Petrels, 11-0, in the period. The constant possession was finally rewarded just before intermission after a long ball from near midfield by
Ashlyn Richards to the back post.
Olivia Fee controlled the pass and fired far post for the goal with just 12 seconds on the clock for a 3-0 Sewanee lead at the break.
Sewanee continues a five-match homestand this Tuesday, facing Maryville at 5 p.m. before hosting Hendrix and Rhodes next weekend for Family Weekend.
