Ramsey Earns Academic All-District Selection by CSC

SEWANEE, Tenn. - Announced on Tuesday by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), sophomore tennis student-athlete Talman Ramsey from the University of the South has been named to the Academic All-District® Team.

Formerly the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), nominations are accepted by current dues-paying CSC members. To be nominated:
  • A student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. The cumulative grade-point average may NOT be rounded up to 3.50.
  • Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable).
  • No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.
A sophomore from Richmond, Va., Ramsey earned an All-SAA Honorable Mention selection this past season, posting a 13-4 singles record this spring. His 13th win of the season was a crucial one for the Tigers, as he clinched Sewanee's victory over George Fox (Ore.) in the second round of the NCAA Championships last week. In doubles, he has a 15-5 overall record.

So far in his two-year career on the court, he has compiled a 22-10 singles record and a 20-9 doubles mark.

He is a member of the Order of the Gown, the SAA Academic Honor Roll, an ITA Scholar-Athlete and a member of the University of the South's Dean's List. He is majoring in Finance with a Business minor.

From the Southern Athletic Association, Berry College, Centre College and the University of the South were listed, totaling seven student-athletes.

The Division III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division III Academic All-America® programs.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on May 31.
