HOW IT HAPPENED
-After a lead-off walk by
Blake Pou to start the game,
Charlie Teel brought him home on an RBI single.
-In the bottom half of the frame, Sewanee skated past a lead-off single and error to keep the 1-0 lead.
-In the third, after back-to-back hitters reached for the Colonels,
Luke Bishop got Ben Prather to ground into an inning-ending double play to keep the lead in favor of the Purple Tigers.
-In the bottom of the fifth, after Centre tied the game on an RBI single, a caught stealing and a popout kept the game square at one run apiece.
-After clean innings in the sixth and seventh, Sewanee had a lead-off single, but the runner was later picked off for the third out to keep the game even.
-However, that pick-off shifted the momentum to the Centre dugout, as they scored the go-ahead runs in the bottom half of the eighth.
-Fortunately for the Tigers, they had the top of the order due up in the top of the ninth. After a lead-off free pass to Pou and a Centre pitching change, runners would eventually be on the corners with two outs. With the tying run at first and the go-ahead run at the plate, a groundout to second base ended the game and gave the Colonels the win.
