No. 19/18 Women's Golf Sits in Fourth in Crowded Field after 18 Holes at SAA Championships

DICKSON, Tenn. - The University of the South women's golf team sits in fourth place after 18 holes at the 2023 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championships from GreyStone Golf Club on Friday. However, places two through five are separated by four strokes.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
-Merrick Semans, Mary Browder Howell and Nicole Nesbitt led Sewanee with identical 76 scores after Friday's action for 12th place in the individual field.

-Semans earned a birdie on the 14th hole, a par-4. Nesbitt also birdied on 14 and added a second one on the seventh hole, also a par-4. Howell chipped in four birdies on the day for the second-most on the day in the field. 

-Sabrina Nesbitt fired a 77 to finish 16th overall, while E.C. Niebauer carded a 79 for 20th place. 

-Becca Gorman rounded out the Sewanee scoring with an 83. 

-Centre's Nina McMurtrey (70) has a two-stroke lead at the top of the leaderboard. 

TEAM LEADERBOARD
-Places two through five in the SAA Championships are separated by just four strokes: Rhodes (302), Oglethorpe (303), Sewanee (305) and Berry (306). 

-Centre ran away with the lead after 18 holes on the team leaderboard on Friday, setting a new SAA Championship record for lowest round with a 293, previously held by Rhodes in 2016.

Day two of the championships will start up for Sewanee at 7:50 a.m.
