CLASS OF 2023!
Prior to first pitch of Sunday's doubleheader, three seniors were recognized from the University of the South softball team, Alice Charboneau, Sam Dean and Michaela Walker

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-MUW got its leadoff hitter on base right away with a base hit to the outfield. After stealing second and moving to third on a groundout, Rylie Grisham brought her home on a sacrifice fly.

-The Tigers responded in the bottom half of the first with two runs in the frame. Eve Bournias led off the frame with a triple in the right-center field gap, and Zoe Crockett brought her home thanks to an error at first base.

-Crockett, who became the first Tiger to swipe 20 bags in a season in program history, stole second and third during the inning, and Alice Charboneau dumped a single to left to give the Purple and White the lead.

-In the bottom of the third, with the wind blowing out to straight-away center field, Charboneau smashed a ball over the fence for her sixth homer of the year.

-Leading 3-1 in the home half of the fourth, Sewanee tacked on another insurance run on a bases loaded walk by Hannah Wilson

-That add-on run would be critical in the fifth, as the Owls scored twice on a two-out, two-run double by Emilee Slade to make it 4-3, but Michaela Walker slammed the door with a strikeout in the circle.

-Still up 4-3, Sewanee put the game away in the bottom fo the sixth. Crockett made it 5-3 on an RBI groundout, and from there, the line kept moving. Wilson followed with an RBI single, followed by a two-bagger by Charboneau and a seeing-eye single up the middle by Walker.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-With the wind still blowing out to center field, the Owls took advantage of it with two homers in the opening frame, including a two-run shot.

-In the fourth and sixth, MUW added five runs each to rout the Tigers, 13-2 and end their seven-game losing skid.

-Sewanee did avoid the shutout with two runs in the fourth. Alice Charboneau and Michaela Walker strung together back-to-back RBI extra base hits. Charboneau had a triple to right field, while Walker laced a double to the gap.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Alice Charboneau had five hits in the doubleheader, including a 3-for-4 day at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored in game one. In the night cap, she followed with a two-hit performance.

-Eve Bournias and Hanna Hollis each had two hits in the opener for the Tigers.

-Michaela Walker recorded a hit in each game at the plate, and in the circle (8-16) tossed the complete game with six strikeouts in game one. Adding 3.1 innings of relief in the second game, the senior threw 10.1 innings on Sunday and allowed allowing five earned runs.

MUW KEY STATISTICS
-With the help of the wind, ghe Owls hit five home runs in game two, led by Makalyn Cowley's two-homer game.

-Jessica Deming and Rylie Grisham each had three hits in game two.
