SEWANEE, Tenn. - The final game of the University of the South's 13-game homestand ended on a high note on Wednesday afternoon, as the Tigers defeated the Mountaineers of Berea College, 11-4, from Montgomery Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After a scoreless first inning, Berea struck first in the top of the second on a RBI base hit to the second base in shallow center field.
-In the bottom half of the frame,
Mike Lewishall recorded a two-out triple and later scored on a wild pitch to even the score at a run apiece.
-After a quick third that saw all putouts in the air, the Tigers' bats went to work. After a leadoff walk by
Luke Short,
TJ Meyn laced a double to left field to score Short.
-After a walk by
Hunter Herndon with two runners on base,
Charlie Teel cleared them with an two-RBI triple.
-Leading 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth,
Emmett DeScherer launched a lead-off home run on the eighth pitch of the at-bat.
-Berea added two runs in the sixth, but in the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers tacked on three runs in the frame to put the game away. Leading 7-3, Teel made it an 8-3 lead with an RBI single.

Blake Pou made it a 10-4 lead with a two-run double in the eighth. Next, Herndon added a run via a groundout.

Blake Pou led the Tigers with a three-hit day, including two doubles, with two RBI and a run scored.

Charlie Teel went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI, and
Hunter Herndon added three RBI.

Luke Bishop tossed four innings of two-hit, one-run ball. Striking out four batters on the day, the junior punched out the side, with all three batters looking a called third strikes.

-Zion Clay went 2-for-3 with a double and home run with two runs and RBI each.
-Peyton Hooper (1-2) took the loss with five runs on five hits and three walks in four innings pitched.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will take their first road trip of the season starting on Friday with a SAA series at Hendrix. First pitch is set for Friday evening from Conway, Ark.
