Women's Golf Opens Spring Slate in Savannah

POOLER, Ga. - The University of the South women's golf program started the spring schedule on Monday and Tuesday at the Savannah Invitational with a ninth place score of 642.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
-Both Sabrina Nesbitt (79-80) and E.C. Niebauer (79-80) tallied a 159 in the 36-hole, two-day event. Nesbitt totaled 21 pars. 

-Mary Browder Howell was one stroke behind the Tiger co-leaders with a 160 (78-82), while Nicole Nesbitt climbed eight spots the leaderboard on Tuesday to finish in the top-50 with a 166 (84-82). 

-Merrick Semans wrapped up the Sewanee scoring with a 166 (82-84). 

-Sarah Hsu of Oglethorpe claimed medalist honors with a 145, edging out two Emory golfers by three strokes. 

TEAM LEADERBOARD
-Sewanee shot a 318 after 18 holes of play on Monday. However, on Tuesday, despite scoring a 324, the Tigers finished in ninth place in the tournament ahead of a stacked field of top-25 opponents. 

-Emory cruised to the team championship with a 20-stroke victory. 

UP NEXT
The Purple and White will now turn its attention to the Jekyll Island Collegiate over spring break, March 17-19.
