Women's Golf Takes Third at Jekyll Island; Fires Lowest Round Score in Program History

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The University of the South women's golf team posted its second-best finish at the Jekyll Island Collegiate with a third place score of 910 as the program fired its second sub-300 score in program history. The event took place at Indian Mound.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
-Four Tigers finished in the top-25, and all five finished in the top-30. 

-Sabrina Nesbitt (75-75-78) and E.C. Niebauer (77-72-79) each scored a 228 to take 14th place in the field. S. Nesbitt posted a 3.08 average on par 3s and a 4.23 scoring on par 4s. Additionally, she totaled seven birdies for seventh-best in the field. 

-Niebauer was fifth-best in the field with a 4.10 average on par 4s, and her eight birdies were fourth-best. 

-Nicole Nesbitt finished 18th overall with a three-round score of 229 (76-73-80). 

-Merrick Semans recorded a 25th-place score of 231 (75-75-81), while Mary Browder Howell rounded out the scoring with a 31st-place score of 234 (75-82-77). 

-Rylan Kennedy carded a 10th place score of 254 (82-87-85) in the individual invitational. 

TEAM LEADERBOARD
-Sewanee secured its second-lowest score in program history with a 54-hole score of 910 (310-295-314). The team's best score of 902 came at the 2016 Jekyll Island event, when Sewanee won the tournament. 

-Additionally, Sewanee's 295 in the second round is the lowest score for the program since the inception of the team in 1995. 

-Redlands (901) won the team event by five strokes. Sewanee was back by nine strokes.

Sewanee is back in action on April 3-4 with teh Max and Susan Stith Invitational from Glen Allen, Va.
