ATLANTA - The University of the South limited Oglethorpe University to five goals on 23 shots on Saturday, as the Tigers defeated the Stormy Petrels, 12-5, to open Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Petrels did get the first goal of the game with 12:36 left in the opening stanza. Sewanee did respond with 9:42 left.

Phelps Thomas, after rebounding a shot from
Davis Gillenwater, found the back of the net to make it a 2-1 lead.
-OU made it 3-2 with eight minutes remaining in the period, but goals by
Davis Gillenwater and
Corbet Darden made it a 5-2 lead for the Purple and White at the break.
-The Petrels made it a 10-4 deficit late in the third quarter, but the Tigers limited the home team to just seven shots in the second half, four in the final period.

Phelps Thomas led the Tigers offense with four goals on the day as eight Tigers scored a goal.
