MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The University of the South baseball team secured a 9-1 victory over Eureka College (Ill.) as a part of the March Madness II, from USA Stadium on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the first inning, the Tigers got the offense going with a base hit by
Blake Pou and a
Hunter Herndon RBI double.
-
Luke Short made it a 2-0 lead for the Purple and White with a base hit following a
J.T. Carter triple.
-The Red Devils made it a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the third with an RBI double.
-Sewanee, in the sixth, took advantage of a couple of Eureka mistakes. With one out and
Mikey Nardella on second,
Will Yarbro doubled to right field and, thanks to an error by the Red Devils in center, saw Nardella score on the play.
-Carter followed with a sacrifice fly to right field to bring Yarbro home to make it a 4-1 lead.
-Sewanee tacked on insurance runs in the eighth. Herndon, with a 6-1 lead, made it 8-1 thanks to a two-run triple.

J.T. Carter led the Tigers with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with a triple and two RBI.

Hunter Herndon drove in three RBI and went 2-for-5 with a double and a triple.

Luke Bishop started the game and tossed four innings of four-hit, one-run ball with three punchouts.
Jake Nevle (2-2) punched out six batters in four innings of relief.
EUREKA KEY STATISTICS
-Cole Tanner and Brandt King had two hits and a double each for the Red Devils.
