GEORGETOWN, Texas - The University of the South women's lacrosse team suffered a 14-13 loss to Southwestern University in overtime on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Southwestern started the game with a 5-0 lead after one quarter and 7-0 with 11:19 left in the half.
-The Tigers finally got on the board on a free position goal by
Emma Burns.
-The Pirates extended the lead to 10-4 at the break.
-In the second half, it was a different story for the Tigers' offense. Sewanee scored the first three goals of the period, led by a
Casey Thomsen man-up goal from
Sally Herrington.
-Late in the third,
Lizzie Chamberlin found Burns for the goal to make it an 11-9 deficit going into the final quarter.
-In the fourth,
Brooke Sigmon scored the first two goals of the period to tie the contest at 11 with 11:25 left in regulation.
-After the Pirates won the ensuing draw,
Winnie Pajcic forced a turnover to give the visitors the ball back. After a successful clear, Thomsen was open again to give the Tigers their first lead of the day, 12-11, with 10:42 to go.
-Following a Sewanee turnover, Southwestern tied the game on a free position shot.
-With 6:40 left in regulation, the Pirates reclaimed the lead on a Cecilla Cantu goal.
-Later in the period, after a yellow card that gave Sewanee an extra-man opportunity on a free position, Burns tied the game with 3:43 left in the game.
-Under a minute remaining in regulation,
Sarah Powers came up with the clutch save that helped forced the game to overtime.
-After Sewanee won the ensuing draw to start overtime, the Tigers would suffer to give the Pirates the ball back. After a foul in the eight-meters for a free-position, Southwestern netted the game-winner.

Emma Burns posted four goals on the day, while
Sally Herrington scored three points on two goals and an assist.

Brooke Sigmon led the Tigers with five points on three goals and two assists. On defense, she collected four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Cat Lamm added three forced turnovers, while
Marlin Price won three draw controls.

Sarah Powers (1-1) stopped eight shots in 32 minutes.
SOUTHWESTERN KEY STATISTICS
-Emma Pertuit scored four goals to lead the Pirates. She also won 14 draw controls.
-Sierra Rupp forced four turnovers on defense, while Brynne Hardway posted eight saves in 62 minutes.
