GEORGETOWN, Texas - The University of the South women's lacrosse team rallied to pick up two victories to go 2-1 in the Lone Star State. Hosted by Southwestern University, the Tigers downed the Lyons of Mount Holyoke College (Mass.), 19-9 on Monday. The next day against North Central College (Ill.), Sewanee posted an 18-6 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED, MOUNT HOLYOKE
-On Monday, despite MHC starting the contest on a free position goal, Sewanee struck quickly on its next possession. After
Marlin Price took the draw,
Emma Burns went down and evened the game at a goal apiece two minutes into the contest.
-With under nine minutes remaining in the first half, after a
Winnie Pajcic ground ball to give the Purple and White possession,
Brooke Sigmon found the back of the cage to tie the game at two.
-That would be the last time the contest would be tied. The Purple and White took the lead 3-2, with 5:53 to go on a free position shot by
Morgan Boylan.
-Leading 7-5 at the break, Sewanee used a strong third quarter, scoring seven goals in the period, including the last five to make it a 14-6 lead at the end of the stanza.

Casey Thomsen led the Tigers with six points on five goals and an assist.

Bissy Muller and
Emma Burns each had a hat trick.

Marlin Price and
Alexa Berg each won four draw controls, while the goalkeeper tandem of
Sarah Powers and

MOUNT HOLYOKE KEY STATISTICS
-Hannah Bisson posted five goals to lead the Lyons.
-Emma Tower recorded 26 saves between the pipes.
HOW IT HAPPENED, NORTH CENTRAL
-The Purple Tigers started the game with back-to-back goals by
Brooke Sigmon and
Emma Burns with 12:15 left in the opening period.
-Leading 3-2 with 9:20 left in the opening quarter, Sewanee saw goals from
Alexa Berg and two from
Sally Herrington to help extend the lead to 6-2 after a quarter.
-The Tigers essentially put the contest away with a
Marlin Price strike to swell the lead to 11-2 with 8:54 left in the half.
-As a team, Sewanee held North Central to 18 shots and saw them turn the ball over 19 times.
