BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of the South softball team posted identical 9-0 setbacks to No. 19 Birmingham-Southern College in a Saturday doubleheader to start Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play.
BSC is ranked 19th in the preseason poll administered by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-Tacking on runs in each inning on offense, the Panthers, leading 3-0, after two innings, scored four in the third, capped by an Izzy Berkopec bases-clearing double.
-BSC tacked on one more in the third and two in the fourth to put the game in a run-rule event.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-In the nightcap, BSC started the game with a five-run first and added three in the third.

Hannah Wilson posted the lone hit for Sewanee in the contest.
Christian Cain and
Hanna Hollis each had a walk in game one.
BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN KEY STATISTICS
-Izzy Berkopec went 2-for-3 with four RBI in game one, while Margaret Axelson went 3-for-3 and scored two runs.
-Jordyn Green and Cassidy Dickson each had two hits and RBI each.
