DECATUR, Ga. / MACON, Ga. - The University of the South softball team picked up a weekend split of games on Feb. 18-19 in Georgia. On Saturday, Feb. 18, after falling 7-1 in the opener, the Tigers rallied to defeat the Scotties, 10-2. On Sunday, Feb. 19, the Purple and White dropped the opener, 1-0, and won the nightcap, 7-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED, AGNES SCOTT
-In the opening game of the day, Agnes Scott got on the board first with a six-run output.
-Trailing 7-0 in the fourth, after back-to-back singles by
Zoe Crockett and
Maggie Barker,
Hannah Wilson lifted a ball deep enough for a sacrifice fly.
-In the fifth, Barker laced an RBI single to bring home
Sam Dean for the team's second run of the game.
-In game two, after a clean first inning, the Tigers' bats went to work. After
Eve Bournias and
Grace Black posted back-to-back hits and stolen bases to put runners at second and third,
Madilyn Parker came through with a two-run single.
-Later in the inning,
Sam Dean brought home
Madilyn Parker to make it 3-0.
Zoe Crockett also scored on the play thanks to a fielding error by the first baseman.
-In the fourth, Dean and Wilson went back-to-back on RBI singles to give the Purple and White the 6-0 lead.
-The Tigers tacked on an insurance run on a Wilson double to score Crockett.
-Agnes Scott avoided the shutout in the sixth with an RBI single.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Maggie Barker had a 2-for-3 day at the plate in the opener with an RBI.
-In game two,
Sam Dean and
Hannah Wilson were each 3-for-3 at the plate. They also had two RBI each.

Madilyn Parker had a 2-for-3 day at the dish with two runs scored and RBI each.

Zoe Crockett also scored three runs in the nightcap.

Hanna Hollis (1-1) earned her first collegiate win in the circle with a complete game, allowing one unearned run and striking out four batters.
AGNES SCOTT KEY STATISTICS
-Colleen Thorson had a 2-for-3 performance with two runs scored and an RBI, while Gigi Elizondo had two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED, WESLEYAN
-The lone run of game one of Sunday's twin bill in Macon came in the bottom of the second.
-In game two, back-to-back doubles by the Wolves gave the home team a 1-0 lead after one inning of play.
-The lead did not last long, as Sewanee got the bats going in the second. After a lead-off single by
Alice Charboneau and an
Eve Bournias walk,
Grace Black tied the game with a base knock.
-Bournias gave the Tigers the 2-1 lead as she scampered home while Black was caught in a run-down.
-In the fourth, Black made it a 3-1 affair on an RBI single.
-Sewanee added three more runs in the fifth.
Hannah Wilson scratched across an RBI single. Charboneau followed with a sac fly, and Bournias laced an RBI triple.
-A key insurance run was added in the seventh thanks to Charboneau's RBI single because the Wolves did string together a rally. Wesleyan put together a two-run double, but that would be as close as they would get.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-In game one, Michela Walker tossed a career-best 10 strikeouts en route to a complete game. The 10 punches are tied for the fifth-most in program history (since 1999) and were four off of the school record in a regulation game.
-
Hanna Hollis (2-1) recorded her second complete game victory in as many days, allowing three earned runs in the second game.
-Also in the nightcap,
Alice Charboneau had a perfect 3-for-3 mark with two RBI and runs scored each.
-
Grace Black added two hits and RBI each in game two.
WESLEYAN KEY STATISTICS
-Katelyn McCord and Taylor Frye each had three hits for the Wolves in game one, while Tihana Zupanic posted a 3-for-3 day in the second game.
-Zupanic also tossed a complete game shutout in the circle in game one, striking out five.
UP NEXT
Sewanee will open Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play this weekend at No. 19 Birmingham-Southern. The Tigers and Panthers will play a doubleheader on Saturday, followed by a single game on Sunday.
