SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South women's basketball team dropped a Sunday Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest to Oglethorpe University, 64-48, inside Juhan Gymnasium.

In between Sunday's doubleheader, the women's basketball team recognized senior Camryn Broussard

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Oglethorpe, leading 6-5 with five minutes remaining in the opening period, ended the quarter on a 6-2 run.

-After being down 12 points, 25-13, with 5:36 left in the opening half, Sewanee answered with a 9-4 run, capped by back-to-back 3-pointers by Lilly Phillips to end the half. 

-OU came out of the locker room strong with a 10-2 run to get the Petrels lead to 15. 

-The Tigers posted an 8-of-16 mark from the field in the fourth quarter.

SINGLE-SEASON LEADER FROM DOWNTOWN
Sophomore Lilly Phillips becomes the first Sewanee women's basketball player to knock down 80 3-pointers in a season. 

The Spartanburg, S.C. native tied the record with a long triple at the end of the half and became the new record-holder with a shot from the top of the key early in the fourth quarter. 

Here are the top-5 single-season 3-pointers in Sewanee women's basketball:

Leading the SAA in triples, Phillips entered Sunday's game ranked third in all of NCAA Division III in 3-point field goals made.

In terms of SAA history, Phillips becomes the third player since the league's inception in 2012-13 to knock down 80 3-point field goals or more in a season, joining Mel McLean from Berry (2014) and Alyssa Owens of Rhodes (2020). Here are the top-5 SAA players in 3-point field goals made:

-It was a day for Lilly Phillips. Setting the school record for made triples in a game, she led all scorers with 18 points on six 3-pointers. 

-Kayla Antoine added 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Knocking down two shots from beyond the arc, she also grabbed eight boards. 

OGLETHORPE KEY STATISTICS
-Keimarya Rivera led the Petrels with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting and grabbed six boards. Olivia Tucker also had 12 points. 

UP NEXT
The regular season finale happens on Wednesday night when Centre College comes to town. The women's game will start at 5 p.m.
