Tigers fall at No. 16 Emory on the Road

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Rashaun Williams recorded 16 points and two rebounds, but the Eagles collected 23 second-chance points and 22 points off turnovers to come away with the win in men's basketball action in Atlanta, Ga. on Tuesday night. 

The Tigers shot 51 percent in the first period, but the No. 16 ranked Eagles collected 10 points from turnovers and 11 second-chance points as the Tigers were unable to capitalize on any turnovers and only recorded five points on second chances. Fletcher Bigham posted six points and six rebounds in the first period for Sewanee and Williams made an impact for the Tigers with 12 points. 

Emory posted a nine-point unanswered run in the middle of the first at 10 all to build themselves that they were able to maintain and build upon for the remainder of the contest. Emory sank eight of 16 threes in the first as they ended the first up 63-44. 
 
Tre Corrigan opened the second period sinking a three but the Eagles answered by taking the next eight points of the half, preserving their lead. Sewanee shot just 37 percent from the field and 25 percent beyond the yard.

Reid Carrier had his best game of the season with 13 points, four rebounds, four assists, and a steal as Bigham ended with eight points, six rebounds, and five assists. Russ Marr also sunk 10 points while adding two rebounds, two assists, and a block. 

Emory had four players end the night double-digits, Cale Martens leading with 24 points, eight rebounds, and a block for the Eagles. 

Sewanee returns to the Mountain to open conference play this weekend against Centre at 3 p.m. before heading on the road again to face Covenant College on Wednesday, December 6 at 7 p.m. ET.
