Roraback sends the Tigers to their first-ever second-round NCAA appearance

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Khiana Roraback scored the game-winning goal for Sewanee as they took down Hanover late Saturday night at Francis Olympic Field in St. Louis in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

With the victory, The Tigers (14-1-4) earned a program-first by winning an NCAA Tournament first-round game. They also tie program history for the most wins in a season with 14.

In the 31st minute, Brianna Fee connected with Khiana Roraback inside the box as Roraback found the back of the net to put the Tigers on the board. Roraback's shot was the first quality opportunity the Tigers produced in the first. Sewanee had produced a couple of blocked shots, but Roraback connected on goal for the first shot of the night.

Kate Thomson scored the insurance goal for the Tigers in the 82 minute from a corner taken by Maggie O'Hare, for her second of the season. Thomson recorded another shot on goal as Samantha Ferry picked up the Tigers' additional shot of the night as Sewanee recorded five shots to the Panthers' two. Both teams produced four set pieces, as Sewanee was able to convert on their final corner kick of the night.

The Tigers controlled the play in the first half creating opportunities for themselves and not allowing the Panthers to take any shots on goal. Hanover came out stronger in the second half, but the Tigers only allowed one shot on goal as Leah Atkins made the routine save for the Tigers.

The Tigers continue their program-breaking season tomorrow as they face the number two ranked team in the country, Washington University on their field at 7 p.m. CT at the Francis Olympic Field.
