Sewanee falls to No.13 Berry on the road

Box Score ROME, Ga. – Savannah Gann had 11 kills for the night as the Tigers fell to Berry in three sets Friday night in Rome, Georgia.

Sewanee played a tough three sets as they fell to No. 13 ranked Berry, 16-25, 20-25, 21-25. Adele Cassidy had 13 digs for the night, Sophia Caruso and Jessie Atkinson followed with 9 digs each and Atkinson posted 16 assists for the night. Gann had 11 kills with a .207 hitting percentage followed by Ashley Crosby with six kills and hit for .250, and Olivia Jones hit for .231 with four kills.

The Tigers' had 11 kills to the Berry's 12 as they fell in the first set. Savannah Gann had two kills on two attempts, Olivia Jones had two kills and a .333 hitting percentage, and Jacqueline Weller had three kills. The Tigers stayed even with Berry at the beginning of the set as there were four lead changes and four ties of score.

Sewanee played a tighter second set as there were 13 ties of score and 11 lead changes. Sewanee had four players with four kills and Ashley Crosby led the Tigers with six kills and .278 hitting percentage. Jones again was a top hitter for the Tigers as she hit for .273.

In the third set, the Tigers had a late five point run to get Sewanee back within striking distance, at 18-19, but Berry regained their momentum as they took the third set, 25-21.

Sewanee travels to Atlanta tomorrow to face off against Oglethorpe at Noon E.T.
