Women's Basketball Falls to Birmingham Southern, Antoine Scores 30

Sewanee, Tenn: On Friday, January 27th the Sewanee Women's Basketball team took on Birmingham Southern in an SAA match up. Kayla Antoine led the Tigers with 30 points and 22 rebounds, but the Tigers fell to the visiting Panthers 96-79.

INSIDE THE MATCH UP:
Birmingham Southern (12-7, 5-3 SAA) 96, Sewanee (3-16, 0-8 SAA) 79. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Birmingham Southern got out to a 9-3 lead early in the first quarter. 
- Sewanee's Kayla Antoine registered seven of her 30 points in the opening quarter. 
- Lilly Phillips hit two of her game high six three pointers in the second quarter, as the Tigers. 
- With 24 points in the third quarter, the Tigers cut the BSC lead to as little as six with just under two minutes left in the quarter.
- Antoine registered eight points in the third quarter. 
- Faith Humphrey registered six points in the final quarter, as the Panthers pulled away. 



KEY SEWANEE STATISTICS:
- Kayla Antoine finished with a double double, with 30 points and 22 rebounds. This is her second 30 and 20 game, as one week prior she had 33 and 21 against the same Panthers team. 
- Two other Tigers registered double doubles, as Faith Humphrey had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Olivia Flavey had 12 points and 11 boards.
- Lilly Phillips had 20 points and converted on six three point shots.

KEY BIRMINGHAM SOUTHERN STATISTICS:
- Montana Harris had 20 points for the Panthers.
