ATLANTA - The University of the South women's basketball team fell in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest to Oglethorpe University, 67-52, Sunday afternoon inside the Dorough Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The first quarter was a game of runs. After the Tigers took an early 5-4 lead on an
Olivia Falvey layup, the Petrels went on a 6-0 run in about a 90-second span.
-Sewanee responded with a second-chance opportunity by Falvey and a
Faith Humphrey 3-pointer to even the score at 10 with 3:45 left in the opening quarter. However, OU ended the quarter on a 14-5 run and reclaimed the lead, 24-15.
-The Purple Tigers cut an 11-point deficit to one possession thanks to a 10-3 run. Sewanee saw
Lilly Phillips knock down two shots from downtown and free throws from
Shay Conn and
Kayla Antoine helped as well.
-Leading 33-31 with 3:31 left in the half, the Stormy Petrels ended the period on a 6-0 run to take a 39-31 lead into the locker room.
-Unfortunately for the Tigers, the Petrels came out strong in the third quarter with an 8-of-20 mark from the field to lead 57-41 en route to the victory.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Kayla Antoine scored 12 points and had nine rebounds, four on the offensive glass. The junior added three dimes in 32 minutes.
-
Lilly Phillips dropped 12 points on four triples, while
Faith Humphrey added 10 points and six boards.
OGLETHORPE KEY STATISTICS
-Keimarya Rivera led the Petrels with 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting and added 12 rebounds.
-Malia Melton also had 12 points and six boards.
UP NEXT
The road swing continues for the University of the South next weekend. The Tigers will travel to Birmingham, Alabama for a contest with Birmingham-Southern College. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20 from Bill Battle Coliseum.
