ROME, Ga. - The University of the South women's basketball team suffered a 58-46 loss to Berry College in Southern Athletic Association play, Friday night inside the Cage Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Despite a
Lilly Phillips triple to start the game, Berry went on an 8-0 run, capped by three free throws by Kenadie Lee.
-Sewanee showed strong defense for the majority of the opening quarter, cutting the deficit to 9-8 with two minutes remaining in the opening period, but a second chance opportunity and a turnover made it a 13-8 lead for the home-standing Vikings after 10 minutes.
-The Vikings got out to a nine-point lead, 23-14, with 3:19 left in the second period, but the Tigers scored the next four to trail 23-18 with less than three minutes in the half.
-A Phillips 3-pointer gave the visiting Tigers a three-point deficit, 26-23, with less than a minute remaining. Despite Berry going 1-of-2 from the charity stripe, the Tigers showed great defense and trailed 27-23 at the break.
-Thanks to a Sydney Blankenship triple, the Vikings made it an eight-point lead, 34-26, at the third quarter media timeout. However, Berry's offensive rebounding helped swell the lead back to its largest of nine points, 40-31, after 30 minutes.
-After back-to-back shots from downtown, the Purple and White made it a three-possession game, 51-42, with two minutes remaining in regulation.
-Berry essentially put the game away at the free throw line, as the home team scored 10 of its 18 points fro the charity stripe.

Lilly Phillips drained six triples for 18 points to pace all scorers.

Kayla Antoine had 11 rebounds, three blocks and two steals and dimes each.
BERRY KEY STATISTICS
-Sarah Wright led the Vikings with 13 points off the bench, followed by McKenna Lentych's 11 and seven boards.
-Berry was able to convert 20 of its 58 points off second chance opportunities.

The University of the South will next head to Oglethorpe University for a Sunday contest on the blacktop inside Dorough Field House at 1 p.m. ET / noon CT.
