MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The University of the South volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday, falling to Maryville College in straight sets and Washington and Lee University (Va.) in four sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED, MARYVILLE
-Despite Sewanee posting a .208 swing percentage in the opening set (8-3-24), Maryville committed just two errors with 13 kills to take the first set, 25-15.
-The Scots posted double-digits in kills in each set, and out-killed the Tigres, 27-15, in the last two sets to complete the sweep.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Laurel Burkhardt posted seven kills to lead the Tigers.

Adele Cassidy dug out 10 attacks, while
Lydia Goffi added two aces.
MARYVILLE KEY STATISTICS
-Amii Ingalls led all attackers with 10 kils, as the home team recorded a .281 attack percentage (40-13-96).
HOW IT HAPPENED, WASHINGTON AND LEE
-Despite the Generals taking the first set, the Tiger offense came to life in the second set, committing just one error on 18 attacks as they stormed to a 25-11 set victory.
-Unfortunately, for the Generals, that would be short-live, as the Generals posted 13 kills in each set to win the match.
-Despite the setback, Sewanee committed fewer errors (18) to Washington and Lee (20) on the attack.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Goffi bounced back to record 15 kills, committing just four errors on 43 attacks, for a .256 percentage. The senior also added three aces.
-
Emma Meyer posted a double-double with 35 assists and 19 digs. The freshman also posted three aces.
-Burkhardt added nine kills, while
Anna Ball posted 23 digs.
W&L KEY STATISTICS
-Sydney Heifner led the Generals with 15 kills, while Lillie Holcomb and Maddie Weller each added 10. Weller posted a double-double with 14 digs on the evening.
