MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of the South women's golf team played its second tournament in as many weeks, as the Tigers traveled to the Montgomery Country Club for the MCC Women's Intercollegiate, hosted by Huntingdon College. Sewanee recorded an eighth place finish and second among Southern Athletic Association (SAA) teams.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
-
Merrick Semans led the Tigers with a ninth place finish of 146 (72-74). The junior finished as one of top golfers on par 3s (2.75) and par 5s (4.38).
-One-fourth of her finishes at the 36-hole tournament resulted in a birdie, including six in Sunday's first round to finish even-par, 72. In the opening round, she posted three birdes out of four holes on holes four, five and seven. She also went back-to-back under-par holes on 13 and 14 before wrapping up the day on the par-5, 18th with a birdie.

Sabrina Nesbitt and
E.C. Niebauer each posted identical 155 scores (77-78) for a 32nd place finish.
Mary Browder Howell finished one stroke behind at 156 (75-81) for 38th overall.

Nicole Nesbitt rounded out the Sewanee scoring with a 162 (82-80).
-Sydney Kuo of WashU finished with an eight-under, 136, including firing a final-round score of 66, to win the event by five strokes.
TEAM LEADERBOARD
-The Tigers fired a team score of 611 (301-310) to finish in eighth place overall. Sewanee's 301 in Sunday's opening round was good for fifth place.
-Six SAA teams were present at this event in Montgomery, and Sewanee's score was the second-best among league teams. The Tigers beat out Oglethorpe, Rhodes, No. 17 Berry and Birmingham-Southern.
-Washington University (Mo.) used a final round, 288, to win the event with a 36-hole score of 579, edging out Centre College by four strokes.

Sewanee has a quick turnaround, as they will head to Montgomery, Alabama next week for the MCC Women's Intercollegiate.
