Ferrum, Virginia: On Sunday, September 25th, the University of the South's Field Hockey team wrapped up a road trip to Virginia, with a 2-1 overtime win over the Panthers of Ferrum.
Sydney Simpson scored the game winner, and also added an assist to
Courtney Odom, who scored the first goal of the game.
INSIDE THE MATCH UP:
Sewanee (1-3) 2, Ferrum (2-4) 1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first quarter went scoreless, but the Tiger offense came out firing, getting five shots off, with two of those being turned away by the Ferrum goalkeeper.
- About halfway through the second quarter,
Sydney Simpson found
Courtney Odom and Odom fired it home to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
- After taking a 1-0 lead into the locker room, the Tigers would hold their lead until Ferrum tied the game five minutes into the fourth quarter.

Claire Damare kept the Panthers from finding the back of the net again, as she posted a five save effort, with two coming in the fourth quarter.
- In the extra frame, the Tigers out shot the Panthers 3-0.Â
- Four minutes into overtime, Simpson finished a pass from
Abbey Sohonage to seal the win for Sewanee.
