SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South volleyball team recovered for a 2-1 deficit to defeat Hendrix College in five sets, 3-2, Saturday afternoon inside Juhan Gymnasium in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The match started with a back-and-forth first set that went into a win-by-two situation. Sewanee did earn set point, 24-23, on an
Ellie Pedersen kill.
-Hendrix earned set point on back-to-back kills, 27-26, but a service error gave it back to Sewanee. Later, down, 33-32, Camryn Presley earned her 10th block of the set to even the score. On the next rally, Loren Payne gave Hendrix its third opportunity for set point.
-Following a Sewanee timeout, the Tigers win the next three points. After
Kenedi Clinton evened the score at 34 apiece with a kill,
Olivia Jones slammed down the final two points to win, 36-34.
-In the first set, a combined 40 kills were made on 115 attacks between the two schools. Hendrix did out-kill Sewanee, 23-17, but the Warriors had 12 attack errors to Sewanee's six.
-After a 35-minute first set, the Tigers recorded the first three points to get ahead early in the second set. However, Hendrix would win the next six points to get out to a 9-5 lead.
-Sewanee would rally back to even the score at 15 points apiece, but for Hendrix, they rallied to a 10-3 run to even the match at a set apiece.
-The Warriors won seven of the first nine points in the third set en route to a 25-19 result to lead the match, two sets to one.
-In the fourth set, Sewanee used a 5-0 run to lead 13-8, but the visitors put up five straight points of their own to even the set a 13 points apiece. The teams traded points back-and-forth, but after two costly errors by Hendrix, the Tigers had set point. However, a Presley kill and a Sam Friedl ace made it a one-point game, 24-23.
Olivia Jones would force the deciding set with a kill.
-In the fifth set, the Warriors got out to a 4-2 lead, but the Purple and White won six straight points en route to capturing a 15-10 victory.

Laurel Burkhardt recorded her fourth double-double of the season, as the junior set a career-highs in kills (18) and digs (17). On the attack, the Hoover, Ala. native committed just three errors on 43 swings (.349).

Olivia Jones tallied 11 digs, while
Adele Cassidy posted 20 digs.

Emma Meyer added 26 assists with 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the year.
HENDRIX KEY STATISTICS
-Camryn Presley set a new career-best in kills with 29. She finished with a .304 swing percentage on 69 total attacks.
-Loren Payne added 13 kills, while Sam Friedl recorded 23 digs.
