SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South volleyball program defeated Rhodes College, 3-1, in a Sunday afternoon Southern Athletic Association (SAA) match inside Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee used a strong opening set, as the Tigers posted a .292 swing percentage on 11 kills to roll, 25-21.
-In the second set, thanks to the help of
Olivia Jones, who had seven kills in the frame, pushed Sewanee to a 25-20 victory.
-Rhodes responded in the third set to avoid the sweep. Leading 16-11, the visitors won six straight points to take a 22-11 lead.
-Despite the 25-16 setback, the Tigers had the momentum going into the fourth set, as they won five of the last eight points in the third.
-The Lynx did get out to an early 7-4 lead in the fourth, but eight straight points by the Purple and White gave them the lead back. Despite Rhodes cutting the deficit to two points, 12-10, Sewanee won four straight to lead 16-10 en route to a 25-17 final score.
-While Rhodes (45) had more kills than Sewanee (42) in the contest, the Tigers recorded just 16 errors on 126 swings to finish with a .206 attack percentage. The Lynx, on the other hand, had a .131 attack percentage thanks to 26 errors on 145 total attacks.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Olivia Jones recorded 11 kills on a .348 swing percentage. The junior committed just three errors on 23 attacks. She also recorded a block and assisted on three for 13.5 points.

Lydia Goffi also totaled double figures in points with 10.5 on nine kills and three assisted blocks.

Adele Cassidy recorded 11 digs to pace the defense.
RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-The Lynx were led by Kathryn Chambers and Shayla Garrison with 12 kills each.
-Maggie Mathis posted a match-high 18 digs.
UP NEXT
Sewanee will begin a two-week road trip starting next weekend at Millsaps at No. 23 Birmingham-Southern. The Tigers will open the trip versus the Majors on Satruday.
