Sewanee, Tenn: On Saturday, September 24th, the University of the South's Men's Soccer team took on Berry, in the first SAA game of the season. Putting together a complete effort, the Tigers defeated the Vikings 3-0.
Tyler Cozzie,
Payne Gridley, and
Trevor Reichman found the back of the net.
INSIDE THE MATCH UP:
Sewanee (6-1-0) 3, Berry (3-1-3) 0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sewanee got on the board early, when
Tyler Cozzie took a deflected pass and fired it to the lower corner of the net to put the Tigers up 1-0.
- A physical first half saw the Tigers get nine shots off, five of them being on goal.
- A strong defensive effort led by
Zach Shunnarah and
Tyler Scott held Berry without a shot in the first half.
- Nine minutes into the second half,
Payne Gridley fired a shot into the upper corner that doubled the Tiger lead.
- Berry would fire four shots towards the goal in the second half, but
JP Furman would stop the only offering on goal.

Trevor Reichman put the nail in the coffin home with less than a minute left to make it 3-0.
KEY SEWANEE STATISTICS:
- Cozzie scored a goal for the third game in a row, with him having the game winner in all three.
- Furman posted his sixth shutout effort of the season.
KEY BERRY STATISTICS:
- Lukas Haritos registered six saves.
