MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The No. 33 University of the South men's tennis team opens up the 2022 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Men's Tennis Tournament on Friday morning from the Adams Tennis Complex. The top-seeded Tigers will battle with the 8-seeded Warriors of Hendrix College in the quarterfinals.

EIGHT-TIME REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS: Sewanee secured its eighth SAA Regular Season crown after defeating Oglethorpe, 9-0, in the regular season finale on Sunday, April 24.
The Tigers, after winning seven straight regular season and tournament championships in the first seven years of the league, are back in the SAA Tournament since winning the event in 2019. The SAA did not conduct a championship in 2020 due to the pandemic, and in 2021, the University of the South was not allowed to travel as a part of the college's COVID-19 protocols.
NCAA REGION RANKINGS: As of April 24, Sewanee is listed fifth in the latest NCAA Region Rankings for Region IV.
Individually,
Noah Holsclaw is listed as an "In Consideration" candidate in singles, while
Quinn Wicklund and
Peyton Erck are listed fifth in doubles.
Holsclaw, ranked 21st in the Atlantic South Region Rankings administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), is 8-10 in dual matches this spring, but since taking over at the No. 1 flight, the junior is 6-6 and has won his last three matches.
Erck and Wicklund, listed at No. 6 in the ITA's doubles rankings in the Atlantic South, has taken off since joining as partners during spring break. The duo is 8-3 at the No. 1 flight this season, and they have won the last six contests.
WESTON WINS: Since returning home from spring break,
Gil Weston has gone out there and just win for the Tigers. The freshman has won eight straight singles matches and is 10-7 on the season.
